Read. Reflect. Grow. – Summer Reading Challenge

This summer, students across Northumberland–Clarke are invited to take part in a reading challenge designed to spark curiosity, strengthen critical thinking, and build lifelong learning habits. The goal is simple: read widely, reflect meaningfully, and grow through new ideas and perspectives.  Each reflection can be brief — 3–5 sentences total is sufficient — making it easy to participate while still encouraging thoughtful engagement.

Participants will explore books across a variety of categories, engage with different cultures, histories, and experiences, and earn prize entries along the way. Whether you’re discovering a new author or diving into a topic you’ve never explored before, each book becomes an opportunity to learn something new.

How It Works

  • Choose a book that fits one of the squares on the Bingo Board.

  • Read the entire book.

  • Complete a short reflection (3–5 sentences).

  • Mark the square as completed.

  • Complete a row, column, or diagonal to earn one prize entry.

  • Complete the entire board to earn bonus entries and special recognition.

Reflection Questions

For each book, students will answer:

  • Title:

  • Author:

  • What was the book about?

  • What was one thing you learned or found interesting?

  • Would you recommend it to someone else? Why or why not?
